Celebrating festivals in school is to create the spirit of our culture.

The students were also told about the various names of Sankranti in different states like Lohri in North India, Pedda Pandaga in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Makara Sankranthi in Karnataka and in some states in the west, Pongal by Tamils and Magh Bihu by the people of Assam. Magha Mela in some parts of central India. They were also taught about the transition of the Sun on its celestial path, which is also called Utarayan the day on which the Sun begins the northward journey. Makara Sankranthi is also a major harvest festival celebrated in various parts of India. They were also told about the variety of food items eaten in different states during Sankranti.
